Hi, Thanks for booking your repair with FixMyBrokenMac, what happens now?
Important information about shipping insurance: If you selected no to the optional shipping insurance on the booking page, you will only be covered up to a maximum of £120 for the loss or damage of your Macbook while in transit to us. We strongly recommend you pay for the additional insurance.
If you booked an appointment
If you booked an appointment, and are bringing the machine to us, you can ignore the rest of this email.
If you requested a box
If you requested that we send you a box, we will issue an invoice for the box, once paid, we will dispatch your box (You can pay online). Please let us know when you receive the box. Once you’ve told us the box has arrived, we will then send you a label via email that you will need to print and attach to the box. If you are unable to print a label, please let us know as UPS have an option for the driver to bring one with him.
If you already have your own box
If not using the original box, please make sure it is securely packaged with plenty of bubble wrap. See our packing tips for more info. For iMacs we strongly recommend using the original box. If you don’t have an original box, please pay for our box service. Let us know when it is ready for collection and we will arrange for UPS to collect. Please note that our free shipping service does not include insurance, if you wish to insure your package please let us know and we will arrange this at a small charge.

We get that it is not always convenient to wait in for a courier, in this instance it is possible for you to drop your parcel at a local access point, your nearest access point can be found here
The courier has collected it, now what happens?
We will endeavour to diagnose your Mac within 3 working days of it arriving at our workshop. we will give you an estimate of cost, and will wait for your authorisation to proceed with the repair. If you are happy to proceed, we will issue an invoice for the cost of the repair prior to shipping it back to you. Once payment is received, we will ship your Mac back to your designated return address. If you choose not to proceed, we will return your machine to you and invoice you for the shipping insurance if you opted for it, and return the machine to you.

Useful Packaging Tips
Use a rigid box with flaps intact.
Choose the size of the box according to its content. Under-filled boxes are likely to collapse, overloaded ones may burst.
Always use high quality materials for your package. Consider strength, cushioning, and durability. Choose boxes made of corrugated cardboard, with good quality outer liners.
Wrap all items separately.
Put goods in the centre of a package ensuring they do not touch the sides. Your item should be well cushioned on all sides. Make use of cushioning materials, to prevent the contents from moving. Use strapping, when suitable, as a good way to seal and secure your box. Use strong tape designed for shipping if strapping is not available.
When re-using a box remove all old labels including any old hazardous material indicators. Use ‘arrow-up’ labels for non-solid materials. Repack your items properly. Many goods are sold in the original manufacturers packaging which may not be suitable for carriage.
To reduce the risk of shock damage and movement inside the package, we recommend you use one or a combination of one of the following types of packing material: Loose fill packing, eg., polystyrene chips Expanded polystyrene foam Polystyrene sheets or blocks Bubble wrap Foam rubber Geber Screwed up newspaper or any other similar item Please be aware that all packaging material sent with the machine will be disposed off and recycled on the day of arrival.
